The Hilltop Gaming Lounge Review


Looking for something new to try with your friends? A tambayan beyond the usual cafes and bars around the Katipunan Area? Check out the Hilltop Gaming Lounge in the One Katipunan Residences Building! A cafe looking to revive the local/couch co-op gaming experience and invigorate the local fighting game scene. 

Having checked the place out and spent a few hours in the gaming lounge. Here is my review of Hilltop Gaming Lounge!!

DO NOTE: Though this is not a paid ad, I personally know the owner of the gaming lounge. The review will solely be based on my personal experience and will try my best to be impartial with regards to the review. With that being said... let's get to it!

Before getting into the nitty gritty of things, let us talk logistics. To get to the actual gaming lounge, you must first enter True Blends Cafe, their partner food and drinks provider, and take the stairs up to the gaming area, the Hilltop Gaming Lounge. The Gaming Lounge is your standard layout with several gaming units running and ready for use. On the same floor, there is a dedicated livestream area for events and casual cafe streams (available on their page). It may seem basic, but the layout of the floor is pretty standard and newbie friendly. Plus points that the place is well lit and very inviting. To start the gaming experience, you will first log in and select your preferred gaming rate.

PRO TIP: The cafe incentivizes group play, so rates become lower the more you guys are! So, bring a friend or make new ones on the spot!!

Once you settle on your rates, you are lead to your gaming setup, which includes your controllers and a decently sized screen for multiplay or local co-op. Accompanying the hardware, you have access to a huge gaming library filled with couch multiplayer games. The whole process from booting up to gaming is pretty simple, thus entry level gamers or casuals need not be intimidated by the experience. 

Being an avid gamer and having familiarity with gaming cafes, Hilltop Gaming Lounge provides a simple system to get started. The user experience during game selection was easily understandable and if help is needed, support is readily available. After signing in and getting set up on our unit, we proceeded to play different gaming titles. 

Quick and Easy, it seems like Hilltop Gaming Lounge is aiming to provide a safe haven for people looking to get into gaming. Catering to both casuals and competitive players alike.

My Experience

I’d say I had an overall great first time in the Hilltop Gaming Lounge. This is based on the experience of me being gamer and bringing along friends who wanted to try new things. My experience may differ from yours, but here is how mine went. 

Not knowing which game to play first, the staff and owner had a few recommendations. They gave their personal favorites and aimed to understand what kind of player you were to ensure a proper recommendation. Adding to the hospitality, they were quick to assist when there were software issues and they were readily available for questions regarding play. I had an issue with the controller I was using and they offered a replacement as soon as I brought it up. So I could easily say, the customer care and service of Hilltop Gaming Lounge is on point!

As for the actual gameplay, we did not experience any gaming or gameplay issues issues. Audio was clean, and there were no delays on the controllers. We played a few party games and they ran smoothly through out our session. Though there were multiple units running, the noise level was not distracting or affecting our gaming session. We did not experience framedrops and noticeable lag, during the times we play fighting game titles. I would say the gaming experience in Hilltop Gaming was pretty smooth. 

Overall, my first time in the Hilltop Gaming Lounge was great! Nothing but positivity on my end. They provided excellent customer service and the tech to ensure smooth gaming. Though they opened pretty recently, there is a roadmap to upgrade their systems, hardware and services to keep up with the community’s needs. So after hearing this, I expect even better things when I visit Hilltop Gaming Lounge in the near future.

Verdict:

With Hilltop Gaming Lounge’s affordable rates and access to a decent cafe, it’s a place worth going to regularly. With the plans ahead for constantly updating their gaming library means the gaming experience won’t get stale. Adding to the gaming experience, the support and service offered makes the experience hassle free and enjoyable for hours. With the establishment running smoothly now, one can expect it to keep getting better!

Mobile Legends Hero Guide: Roaming Arlott

Roaming Arlott is a build I have been working on and been playing in certain matchups and team compositions. Given the nerfs the hero received in several patches now, I personally think that he cannot match the tempo of meta XP laners. I know is sounds like trolling or griefing, but hear me out!!
