Rakk Bulus Review and Comparison vs. Rakk Talan

Malapit na ang 10.10, kaya nandito ako para mambudol!!

Rakk Gears, a Philippine based gaming peripherals company, refreshed their line up of affordable gaming mic. I picked up and have been using their mouse, the Rakk Bulus, to give you guys a review on their take on a budget gaming mouse. As an added bonus, I will be comparing this to their iconic Rakk Talan, which also happens to be my daily driver.

DO NOTE! This is not a paid ad and this will be my unbiased opinion on the item. I bought this mouse with personal funds and I have made no partnership with the said company.

With that being said, let's get into it!

Overview

The Rakk Bulus is an affordable gaming mouse which retails around 1395 to 1495 pesos (depending on the color of choice), which I bought on sale for around 1100 pesos. It comes with the following:

  • The Rakk Bulus
  • USB-C paracord cable 1.8m
  • 2 Mouse Shells/Covers
  • Extra mouse switches
  • Switch puller

With the add-ons given, you cannot argue about the price. This is a pretty good deal, given that you get a mouse capable of three types of connectivity: wired, 2.4g wireless, and bluetooth. But in my opinion, the biggest selling point of the mouse is its hotswappability or the ability to change out the mouse button switches. So far, Rakk has been the only company I've seen to offer an enthusiast catered mouse at this price range. Aside from these features, the Rakk Bulus carries ALMOST ALL the usual specs of a budget gaming mouse.

The Rakk Bulus as a gaming mouse? It's a no for me dawg.

To be frank, it had the making of being a somewhat decent gaming mouse, but at its price, there are trade offs. On the outside it looks like every other lightweight gaming mouse, but the hardware is outdated. It is an ambidextrous and slim mouse that's comfortable to hold (for medium sized hands), but it is "heavy" compared to its competitors. On paper, there is a 1 to 3 gram difference comapred to other mice, surprisingly it is noticeable. Going in deeper, it uses a old sensor Pixart 3325, the acceleration is capped at 20g and is limited to 100 IPS. To some it may be negligible for casual gameplay, but to the hardcore gamers, it is do or die at that point.

Comparison vs. the Rakk Talan

The Rakk Talan is my daily driver and a popular gaming mouse from the same company. It is worth looking at the comparison, because the Rakk Bulus is a newer mouse model and Rakk was considered top tier YEARS ago.

On paper, the Rakk Talan beats out the Rakk Bulus, in terms of specs. The only plus the Rakk Bulus has is its longer battery life and added mode of connectivity. But this doesn't mean that overall the Rakk Talan is the better mouse. A mouse is only as good/useful as its user. Some users do not need all the high end specs the Talan offers, but these are nice to haves. If you have a strict budget, the Bulus is the way to go. If you like customizable options, the Bulus gotchu! With the price difference of the 2 there are no misses when you choose to buy either one.

Though looking at this comparison, it makes you realize that there is more to the mouse than its release date. The Rakk Talan may be older, but it still has decent specs, yet it was in the same position as the Bulus when it came to comparison to the old model Logitech G502*.

Experience

Having spent time with the Rakk Bulus as my daily driver, I would say I had an enjoyable time with it. Though it may not be top tier, it's a good deal at its price point. Personally, I like the extra weight it has especially on I casually working or scrolling through my social media feed. The extra switches that came with the mouse made the clicking experience a lot more enjoyable too. The bluetooth feature comes in handy when going mobile. The extra battery life reassures me that the mouse won't suddenly die on me.

For gaming? I'd choose to stick with my Rakk Talan. It might be a preference thing or I more used to gaming with it, but I feel like my mouse strokes are smoother with the Rakk Talan.

Verdict

In the end, hardware and software will not always decide which mouse is the best. A lot of a mouse’s performance will depend on the user’s preference and comfort. So take every review with a grain of salt, and do extra research if you want more substantial information.

With that being said, the Rakk Bulus is a great enthusiast mouse for casual use. With it’s price, you can’t really complain about it’s low end specs. The ability to hotswap the switches is a huge plus if you’re all about customizing your gear to suit personal taste. I see myself using the Rakk Bulus on the go, because having a bluetooth enabled mouse with a long lasting battery life is a huge plus for content consumption. As for gaming, I’d stick to my trusty Rakk Talan, because there is a noticeable difference in performance, especially in how responsive the mouse is.

Overall, the Rakk Bulus is a great addition to the Rakk arsenal. An affordable bluetooth mouse, perfect for content consumption and creation, is hard to come by. Its hardware may be outdated, it makes up for in customizability and battery life. The Rakk Bulus is best for those who need to go mobile.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Emblem System Revamp Analysis

Image was taken from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Facebook Page Though the title of the article can be a mouthful, this new emblem system update has sparked a few conversations. With it being online for awhile now, let’s look at how it has been for players trying to reach Mythic Glory this season.  DO NOTE!  This article’s content will be based on my personal experience and research. It will also be good to do your own research to better understand this new emblem rework. Now let’s get started!! Old Emblem System vs Now VS The most obvious change with the new system, would be the merging of the Common Physical and Magical emblem into one Common Hybrid emblem, and the removal of the Jungler emblem which I will get into further details later. Another big change is the simplification and diversification of Talents. Players test their game knowledge by mixing and matching talents from different emblems. Moonton did a good job reworking the system, with both casual and hardcore pl...

Mobile Legends Hero Guide: Roaming Arlott

Roaming Arlott is a build I have been working on and been playing in certain matchups and team compositions. Given the nerfs the hero received in several patches now, I personally think that he cannot match the tempo of meta XP laners. I know is sounds like trolling or griefing, but hear me out!! Why does Roaming Arlott Work? Arlott is one of the heroes who can easily transition from early game assassin to late game tank. Having played Arlott is all types of matches, 1 thing I noticed is the damage fall off. No matter how big the early game lead is, Arlott's damage falls off really hard late game, even if you build all damage. By playing him as a roamer, you can utilize his early game damage to play as an assassin sniping kills all over the map, which will give you enough gold to eventually build tanky and having impact during late game. Emblem and Battle Spell I run the Fighter emblem on roam Arlott, because it gives him spell vamp for that increased sustain plus the added damage ...
