My Biggest Mobile Gaming Dealbreakers

Here is a list of  my personal mobile gaming dealbreakers or icks (as the zoomers call it)

As someone who spends most of their time playing games on my phone, I’ve been bombarded with multiple ads for mobile games. Being pretty susceptible to targeted marketing, I download these games and try them out for myself. Through these unwanted ads, I’ve found hidden gems amidst the ocean of trash mobile games. Sifting through these games, gave me a clearer sense of what I want or don’t want in a game.

So, here are my top 3 icks or red flags when it comes to playing a game!

  • Ads

It should be a given, right? I know that ads are a way for free mobile games to earn money, and I respect that. I don’t mind watching ads when there are incentives involved, but there is such as thing as too much.

There are games you can play offline, but can’t, because you have to play it with ads on. Similarly, there are games you’d want to play offline to avoid the spam of ads when playing with an internet connection, but why need to go through the extra effort to do so?

The spamming of ads isn’t the main problem here, but rather its effects on gameplay. Having to watch an ad every game cycle kills the mood. It disrupts the game flow and ruins the player experience. I have played games that required you to watch an ad before or after each session, and it kills the momentum to want to play another round.

I know you can pay to remove ads, but why intentionally make your game unplayable without it?

  • VIP System

Speaking of paywalls, the existence of a VIP system in mobile games is a huge turn off. Popular in a lot of Chinese made mobile games, the VIP system either gives you benefits which make gameplay easier or they give you access to key gameplay features behind them. Knowing that there is a VIP system in the game, I immediately back away, because I know I will only be playing a fraction of the game.

I don’t mind playing Pay2Win games, and there is not hate towards whales, because they keep the game running. The existence of a VIP system just limits F2P players so much, especially the predatory ones. Better quality of life benefits, like increase gold or material gain, I can let that slide, but when it comes to key game features thats a pass. Examples of what I can’t forgive would be hiding character access, autoplay, and even game modes behind paywalls, now thats a pass.

The VIP system takes advantage of the player base by only giving them access to portions of the game, thus not being able to enjoy it fully. A good comparison I can think of with regards to this would be like in Mad Max: Fury Road, and their control of water access.

  • Dailies

This may be controversial, but dailies are a 50/50 dealbreaker. Much like the ads, there is such a thing as too much.

Dailies are what keep the player’s online everyday. It is a way to keep the game interesting and worth coming back to. In turn, makes the game look good on paper.

With that being said, I am part of the work force, and I play games to unwind. The last thing I’d want to do is open up a game and find myself “working”.  Some games have so many daily mission that it takes hours go to through, and this may not even include special event quests or main story quests. Imagine ending work and logging in, only to find out you have more work to accomplish.

Dailies are huge drain on energy both phone and personal.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Emblem System Revamp Analysis

Image was taken from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Facebook Page Though the title of the article can be a mouthful, this new emblem system update has sparked a few conversations. With it being online for awhile now, let’s look at how it has been for players trying to reach Mythic Glory this season.  DO NOTE!  This article’s content will be based on my personal experience and research. It will also be good to do your own research to better understand this new emblem rework. Now let’s get started!! Old Emblem System vs Now VS The most obvious change with the new system, would be the merging of the Common Physical and Magical emblem into one Common Hybrid emblem, and the removal of the Jungler emblem which I will get into further details later. Another big change is the simplification and diversification of Talents. Players test their game knowledge by mixing and matching talents from different emblems. Moonton did a good job reworking the system, with both casual and hardcore pl...

Rakk Bulus Review and Comparison vs. Rakk Talan

Malapit na ang 10.10, kaya nandito ako para mambudol!! Rakk Gears, a Philippine based gaming peripherals company, refreshed their line up of affordable gaming mic. I picked up and have been using their mouse, the Rakk Bulus, to give you guys a review on their take on a budget gaming mouse. As an added bonus, I will be comparing this to their iconic Rakk Talan, which also happens to be my daily driver. DO NOTE! This is not a paid ad and this will be my unbiased opinion on the item. I bought this mouse with personal funds and I have made no partnership with the said company. With that being said, let's get into it! Overview The Rakk Bulus is an affordable gaming mouse which retails around 1395 to 1495 pesos (depending on the color of choice), which I bought on sale for around 1100 pesos. It comes with the following: The Rakk Bulus USB-C paracord cable 1.8m 2 Mouse Shells/Covers Extra mouse switches Switch puller With the add-ons given, you cannot argue about the price. This is a pret...

Mobile Legends Hero Guide: Roaming Arlott

Roaming Arlott is a build I have been working on and been playing in certain matchups and team compositions. Given the nerfs the hero received in several patches now, I personally think that he cannot match the tempo of meta XP laners. I know is sounds like trolling or griefing, but hear me out!! Why does Roaming Arlott Work? Arlott is one of the heroes who can easily transition from early game assassin to late game tank. Having played Arlott is all types of matches, 1 thing I noticed is the damage fall off. No matter how big the early game lead is, Arlott's damage falls off really hard late game, even if you build all damage. By playing him as a roamer, you can utilize his early game damage to play as an assassin sniping kills all over the map, which will give you enough gold to eventually build tanky and having impact during late game. Emblem and Battle Spell I run the Fighter emblem on roam Arlott, because it gives him spell vamp for that increased sustain plus the added damage ...
