Mobile Legends 101: Learn How to Support as a Roamer

The role you get when you have to adjust or fill. Playing support or roam is a pretty thankless job. You take the blame when things go wrong and the highlight system in-game doesn’t record your game winning sets. After all the flack they may get in-game, I personally believe that support players are the unsung heroes of every MOBA. They have to be active all throughout the game and they provide the team the needed space and information, which is why they tend to be the main shotcaller in teams.

Though, it seems like a lot of work for something you won’t even get commended for, right? Learning the role comes with skills that you can carry over when playing other roles too! Expand your game knowledge, and GIT GUD!!

With that being said, here are a few tips to elevate your roaming mechanics!!

  • Understand your hero's role in-game

Not all roaming heroes are created equal. You got all kinds of roaming supports, such as tanks, healers and assassins. Each roamer archetype has a certain play style that goes along with then. You don’t expect a roam saber to tank hits or Expect an Atlas to go in last during a team fight.

You have to understand what your role is in-game and play around that. Every choice you make and every action you take must all fall under the role you intend to take in-game. For example, if you’re playing Estes, a healer, your job is to make sure your teammates don’t die. Whether it is during lane phase or during late game, your job as Estes stays the same, you make sure your teammates are healed up and not dead.

Understanding what your hero’s objectives are during the game helps you focus on what matters. It lets you bring out the effectivity of your role. As stated awhile ago, not all heroes are created equal, and as the one playing the roamer role, you must ensure that you maximize the resources you are given.

  • Map Awareness

Adding to the idea of objectives, let us look at it at a larger scale. By that I mean, understanding your presence on the map. Speaking of the map, the mini map on the top left (for those who don't know) of your HUD will be your bestfriend in the roaming role. Assuming that you know what your roaming hero is good at, let’s talk about how to utilize it for your team’s advantage.

Mobile Legends is an objective based game, which means playing smart ultimately trumps playing for kills (You. Heard. Me). The roamer’s job is to help the team get an edge over the other team. Small advantages early game snowball into game winning moments. The key to this is by being present in the places where you are needed and providing information for the team to work with.

No idea where the enemies are? Venture into unknown territory, so that your team knows. Face check bushes, or zone out potential threats to your teammates. If I have not mentioned, roamers tend to be disposable, as there is no gold value lost on their death. “Better you than your carries,” they say.

Does the jungler needs help with the Turtle? Depending on your hero, you either help with damaging the turtle or zone out enemies away from the objectives.

Is your marksman being bullied out of lane? As the support, you have to babysit them and hope they’ll carry the game eventually.

You basically have the role of caretaker, given how much you need to do to ensure a smooth game for everyone else. It is also a very trust reliant role, because you cannot single handedly win games. You have to trust that your teammates will respond to your setups or that the carry you babied all game will win you the game. When or if they do, be prepared to not receive any glory, because that is part of the job.

  • Communication is KEY

Last but certainly not the least, communicate with your teammates. This should be a given, but I believe it is very VERY underutilized. Because with every team game, if you don't communicate with each other, you will most likely not be on the same page. Not everyone plays or sees the game the same way you do, so speaking up helps a lot.

As a roamer, using pings for quick communication let's the lane prep to either fight or flee. Voice lines are in-game for a reason and not just for trash talk. Pings also forces your teammates to look at their mini maps to see the state of the game. It also helps to let your teammates know if your skills are on cooldown. Having info on what skills are available during crucial moments in-game can turn the tides, good or bad.

Be prepared for teammates who will flame you and go against your calls, as this is a pretty normal in a toxic community. Stay strong, and keep a positive mental attitude. This is a team game and you shouldn't let the toxicity affect the way you play the game. Don't let the trolls prevent you from playing your game and doing your job.

-------------------------------------------------

What a roamer lacks in levels and items, they make up for by being or playing smarter than the other team. A good roamer supports and uplifts their teammates. May these tips help improve your role knowledge and help you understand the game even more! Supporting may be a thankless job, but the wisdom you gain from playing it can apply to all the other roles in-game.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Emblem System Revamp Analysis

Image was taken from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Facebook Page Though the title of the article can be a mouthful, this new emblem system update has sparked a few conversations. With it being online for awhile now, let’s look at how it has been for players trying to reach Mythic Glory this season.  DO NOTE!  This article’s content will be based on my personal experience and research. It will also be good to do your own research to better understand this new emblem rework. Now let’s get started!! Old Emblem System vs Now VS The most obvious change with the new system, would be the merging of the Common Physical and Magical emblem into one Common Hybrid emblem, and the removal of the Jungler emblem which I will get into further details later. Another big change is the simplification and diversification of Talents. Players test their game knowledge by mixing and matching talents from different emblems. Moonton did a good job reworking the system, with both casual and hardcore pl...

Rakk Bulus Review and Comparison vs. Rakk Talan

Malapit na ang 10.10, kaya nandito ako para mambudol!! Rakk Gears, a Philippine based gaming peripherals company, refreshed their line up of affordable gaming mic. I picked up and have been using their mouse, the Rakk Bulus, to give you guys a review on their take on a budget gaming mouse. As an added bonus, I will be comparing this to their iconic Rakk Talan, which also happens to be my daily driver. DO NOTE! This is not a paid ad and this will be my unbiased opinion on the item. I bought this mouse with personal funds and I have made no partnership with the said company. With that being said, let's get into it! Overview The Rakk Bulus is an affordable gaming mouse which retails around 1395 to 1495 pesos (depending on the color of choice), which I bought on sale for around 1100 pesos. It comes with the following: The Rakk Bulus USB-C paracord cable 1.8m 2 Mouse Shells/Covers Extra mouse switches Switch puller With the add-ons given, you cannot argue about the price. This is a pret...

Mobile Legends Hero Guide: Roaming Arlott

Roaming Arlott is a build I have been working on and been playing in certain matchups and team compositions. Given the nerfs the hero received in several patches now, I personally think that he cannot match the tempo of meta XP laners. I know is sounds like trolling or griefing, but hear me out!! Why does Roaming Arlott Work? Arlott is one of the heroes who can easily transition from early game assassin to late game tank. Having played Arlott is all types of matches, 1 thing I noticed is the damage fall off. No matter how big the early game lead is, Arlott's damage falls off really hard late game, even if you build all damage. By playing him as a roamer, you can utilize his early game damage to play as an assassin sniping kills all over the map, which will give you enough gold to eventually build tanky and having impact during late game. Emblem and Battle Spell I run the Fighter emblem on roam Arlott, because it gives him spell vamp for that increased sustain plus the added damage ...
